Starshipit

With the Starshipit connector, you can connect iPacky and Starshipit directly. This means that you don’t need to go into another app to create the shipping labels, but can get it directly after checking the order.

In order to use this connector, you need to have a working Starshipit subscription. Follow the directions in the document at the end of this page to set it up.

Before activating the Starshipit connector, please contact Starshipit support to get an increased API limit of 20 calls/second. This is necessary for iPacky to work with Starshipit.

When the order check in iPacky is complete, the shipping label will be printed instantly on your printer via the PrintNode connector.

You don’t have to have the connection between Starshipit and Shopify set up, but we recommend it, so you can produce shipping labels in both the Starshipit interface, Shopify and iPacky.

Please follow the instructions in the document at the end of this article, to get more detailed steps.

First, you must add the Starshipit connector in Connectors→Manage. After that, the Starshipit connector will appear when you expand the Connectors, and you can select it.

Please read this document for detailed instructions of how to install

Setting

Description

API key

Api key from Starshipit web interface→Settings→API

Subscription key

Subscription key from Starshipit web interface→Settings→API

Show Starshipit dialog

Whether to show the Starshipit dialog box after the order check by default. This can be overridden on each order by selecting Show Starshipit dialog in the Actions drop-down in the order check screen. If you don't show the Starshipit dialog, it will print directly without the option of changing values such as weight, multi packages and signature required. The weight is calculated on the basis of the total weight of the items on the order, and the rest will use the default values

Hide get rates

If checked, it will not show the Get rates button in the Starshipit dialog in the order check. If you don't want your users to be able to override the rules set up in Starshipit, please check this option

Unit

The unit type for the weight. This must match Starshipit web interface→Settings→Options→Import Weight Unit

Default packing box

The default shipping box with measurements. These boxes are defined in iPacky Dashboard→Boxes. There, you can enter the shipping box sizes you are using for faster retrieval. If you don't show the Starshipit dialog, this is the box measurements that will be selected. If selection (None), it will use the dimensions of 10x10x2 cm

Order tags for shipment failure

The Order tags for shipment failure can be used to set tags on the order if there is an error during label creation. After fixing and re-checking the order, these tags will be removed from the order.

The Starshipit dialog can look like this:

Here you can select another box (defined in Boxes), or override the dimensions and weight. The weight is taken from the total weight of the items on the order.

You can add more packages by clicking Add.

If you want to give instructions to the carrier about delivery, this can be written in Shipment note. It will show the current order note, and you can copy from that one.

If Hide get rates is not turned on in the Starshipit settings in iPacky, you can click Get rates to get the available rates and options for the shipment properties and destination. By clicking on a carrier/service you can also select the options.

Clicking on Clear will clear the available rates table.

If you don’t manually select any rates, it will use the rules set up in Starshipit. This is usually recommended. And it’s also recommended that you turn on Hide get rates unless they need to override the rules set up in Starshipit.

Please do not select any rates that have a price of 0. This usually indicates that it’s not available for the destination or parcel properties.

Troubleshooting

  • Check that the API keys are correct. If it works once, it should work forever, unless you change the API key and Subscription key in Starshipit.
  • The most common error is that the address is invalid. Make corrections on the shipping address in iPacky or Shopify, and try again using Retry shipping label in the Actions menu.
  • If the label has not printed, check that PrintNode is up and working and that the printer is turned on.
  • If an error message comes up with a message that invalid shipment, or shipping type not available when trying to create a label in the order check, the problem is in the shipping rules setup in Starshipit. Please contact Starshipit about this.
  • If you have set up the connection between Starshipit and Shopify, iPacky will delete the order, and create a new one in Starshipit when the label is printed. This will have no consequences.
