iPacky Dashboard→Tools→Boxes
This is a very powerful functionality that will help you quickly select the box (packing box) to use and keep stock inventory of boxes.
Box usage statistics will help you decide when to order more.
This screen is available for users with Operator role or higher.
Here, you can define pre-defined box sizes. This makes if possible to quickly select the size of the packing box.
Enter the information, and + icon in the beginning of the line to add a box. To edit a box, just edit the existing box. Click on the red X to remove a box.
Use a dot as the decimal separator. Like 2.1
Remember to Save the changes.
If you’re adding envelopes, and you want to use the packing box calculation, please make the dimensions so that thicker items will fit inside. Maybe use the maximum acceptable height of the envelope. Or you can even have several versions of different heights registered.
If you’re using Shopify locations support in iPacky, this screen is for the current location in iPacky. So each location will have its own setup.
Field | Comment |
---|---|
Name | The name of the box. Do not make it too long. |
Unit | The dimension unit to use. CM or IN (inches). |
Length Width Height | The length, width and height of the box. |
Weight | The weight of the box. This will be used in the Starshipit and Webshipper connector to calculate the total weight of the shipment. This weight will be added to the order weight. Usually it's 0. |
Unit | The weight unit (KG, G, LBS, OZ). |
Barcode | If the box has a barcode, this can be entered here to quickly select the box you are using in the order check. |
On hand | The on hand inventory stock. Every time a box is used in the order check, this is deducted from the box inventory. This happens when the order check is completed. |
Default packing box | This selects the default packing box to use. This must be set in order for the box selection in order check to be visible. |
At least one box must exist, and the default packing box must be selected in order for the box selection in the order check to work.
Order check screen
If the boxes are set up correctly, you will see the boxes elements as shown here. It will always start with the default box. You can change the box by clicking on the Box button dropdown at any point before scanning the last item on the order.
If you are sending more than one box, you must check at least one item, and then you can click on Finish Parcel. The number after Finish parcel will show the current number of boxes. If you’re not using iPacky Webshipper connector, it does not matter which items you assign to each box, since this will not be recorded anywhere.
If the box has a barcode, you can also scan that, and the corresponding box will be selected.
When scanning is complete, these boxes will be taken into the Starshipit or Webshipper dialog (if you’re using one of these) and you can edit them again there.
If not using one of these shipping connectors, when the order is completely checked, the boxes will be subtracted from the On hand inventory. The same happens when completing the shipping dialogs.
Some notes
- Changing the box, or number of parcels has to be done before the order is completely checked.
- If you have clicked on Finish parcel, there is no way of changing earlier parcels, or to go back to fewer parcels. You then have to open the order again for scanning, or better, select Actions→More→Clear all scans.
- If using Webshipper and you need to move items between parcels, you must do that in the iPacky Webshipper dialog with Parcel items.
- Only the Webshipper connector assign items to each parcel. Only Webshipper support that.
- If using the Starshipit or Webshipper connector, the shipping dialog will automatically open if you have selected more than one box
- If the shipping dialog returns with an error, you cannot change the boxes/parcels, but have to select Actions→More→Clear all scans
