Improved Workflow
It's time to stop worrying about packing errors With loss of Customers and Sales. Start packing like a pro
With iPacky, you can customize and improve your workflow
Packers note
This allows the packer to write an internal note on the order. For example, when they pick and some products are out of stock. An email alert can then be sent internally to the back-office. They can also mark the order as incomplete, and a supervisor can decide what to do with that order.

Handy Product Notes
Training new employees can take time; remembering all the products and their location can even be difficult for an experienced packer. You can save time on training and improve efficiency by utilizing product notes.
Product notes let you make internal notes on individual products. These notes will never be shown to the customer but can be seen by packers.
These notes can store information such as:
- Properties of the product.
- Notes to help distinguish between similar products, to avoid confusion while packing.
- Handling information such as special care instructions.
- Information on location in the warehouse, so products are easier to find.
Virtual Products
To make it easy to pack all the items in a kit, iPacky has a functionality called Virtual products. Virtual products help you to include all products in kits and prevent mistakes. It allows the shop to define a product in their store that consists of other products.
Example:
The main product “Phone charger kit – White” has the following members:
1 x 24V charger plug – White
1 x Wall plug – White
2 x USB-C cable – White
In this case, the “Phone charger kit – White” is not a physical product, but a collection of other products.
In iPacky, this virtual product is set up with the member products. When an order contains “Phone charger kit – White”, the member products must be scanned and packed in iPacky. This makes sure that the kit is completely packed without any missing components.
Member products can still be sold separately, or instead only available in a kit. If only included in a kit, these can be hidden in the store, so they are not available for purchase outside the kit.
Timeline notes
custom attributes
Order notes
Correct flow of information is critical.
Timeline notes that are entered on the order in Shopify Dashboard can be shown to the packer. It can be special instructions for this order/customer. This ensures that this information reaches the person responsible for the packing. No more post-it notes or verbal communication that can be lost.
Some merchants use order line custom attributes for their products. This information can then be available for the packer that really must have this information.
It’s also critical that the packer sees the notes that the customer has put on the order.
Set these options in Settings.
Order check rules
Order check rules is a powerful tool to make order checking rules based on order tags or SKUs. For optimal workflow, it is important that orders are packed correctly, and that information and messages are not lost.
In some cases, order check rules can overlap in functionality with packing notes and virtual products.
Here are some just some of the situations when this functionality is useful. The use cases are endless.
Use case 1: Adding coupons for new customers
An order is tagged as a new customer, and you want to attach a welcome letter with a coupon or discount. This helps the packer make sure it is added when completing the order.
Use case 2: Showing a message to the packer in a pop-up dialog
If the order is tagged with VIP, the packer can be informed about this, and act accordingly. Customer support can also add notes to an order if they have had contact with the customer. Just create a rule for the tag “tnote” (example), with a message “Really important information in the timeline notes” and add this tag to the order.
Use case 3: Add a product manual or recipe
In case you have products without manuals in the product packaging, a note can be added to make sure packers include it.
Use case 4: Temporarily add something with a product/order tag
For example, the note system can remind packers add a voucher during a campaign.
2-Round Validation
2-round validation reduces human error by adding an extra layer of checking. It can also help make your workflow more efficient by splitting the packing procedure into two processes, picking (collecting) and packing (validating).
Scenario 1
One person checks the order in iPacky, and then another person checks the order in iPacky again to make absolutely sure there are no mistakes. It’s also possible for the same person to make the second check.
Scenario 2
One person picks all the necessary items for the order and scans them in iPacky on a mobile device. This doesn’t require a picklist as all the necessary information is on the iPacky screen. After that, the contents of this order are left at a packing station. A packer (validator) can then check all the items in iPacky and pack them ready for shipping. This can make the packing process faster and more efficient.
This option is set in Settings.
Workstations
This makes it possible to identify which workstation has checked the order and also to connect to the right printer to print shipping labels (if using shipping connectors).
This information will also be shown in the order details in Dashboard reports.
