Scan order Shopify

There are several ways of utilizing shipping apps that are not directly supported by iPacky. This also applies when producing the shipping label in the native Shopify label production.

Please contact us if you have a scenario not described here.

Create shipping labels before iPacky

Shipping app is connected to Shopify

If the shipping app is connected to Shopify, it will most likely fulfill the order in Shopify and adding the tracking numbers on the order. This especially applies to using the native shipping label production in Shopify.

iPacky setup

  1. Turn on iPacky Dashboard→Settings→General→Orders are fulfilled before iPacky. This is very important, otherwise iPacky will think there is nothing to print since they are already fulfilled

Workflow

  1. Produce the shipping labels using your app or in Shopify. The orders will be fulfilled and tracking numbers will be added. You can also select to print out picking lists/packing slips there, but we recommend doing that in iPacky
  2. Printing picking lists or packing slips in iPacky if necessary
  3. Check the order in iPacky

Useful tips & tricks

  • If you want to print the picking lists or packing slips in iPacky you can just select the orders in the Picking list/Packing slips overview and print them
  • A very useful feature is that in the Print button dropdown on that screen, you have an option called Make list of orders. There, you can either enter the order numbers manually, or just scan the tracking number barcodes of the shipping labels you have printed. After clicking Ok on that dialog, these orders will be loaded and ready to print. For some carriers, like USPS, the tracking number barcode does not match the actual tracking number. The handling of this can be set in iPacky Dashboard→Settings→Tracking
  • For easy order checking, on top of the picking list/packing slip, there is a barcode for the Shopify order number. On the main iPacky screen where it’s waiting for you to enter the order number, you can just scan this barcode to open the order for checking
  • If you don’t want to print picking lists/packing slips, you can turn on iPacky Dashboard→Settings→Include tracking# in order search. This makes it possible to just scan the tracking number barcode on the shipping label to open the order for checking. Keep in mind the special tracking number barcode handling as mentioned above for some carriers
  • If you don’t want to print the packing slip until the order has been checked in iPacky, you can use the automatic print of packing slip after the order has been checked. Read more here.

Notes

  • Keep in mind that the order must be fulfilled before printing picking lists/packing slips and checking orders in iPacky when the orders are fulfilled before iPacky. In other case it will not print anything, or giving a message that there are no fulfillments on the order
  • In case you need a partial fulfillment, this must be done in the shipping app before checking it in iPacky. iPacky will only do the fulfilled items, not the unfulfilled
Shipping app is not connected to Shopify
  • This one is hard to describe since you might need to do everything manual when it comes to shipping label production, and also fulfilling and entering tracking info to the Shopify order

Create shipping labels after iPacky

iPacky setup

  1. Turn off iPacky Dashboard→Settings→General→Orders are fulfilled before iPacky

Workflow

  1. Printing picking lists or packing slips in iPacky if necessary
  2. Check the order in iPacky
  3. Produce the shipping label

Useful tips & tricks

  • If using Shopify to produce the shipping label after checking it in iPacky, you can turn that on iPacky Dashboard→Settings→General→Open order in Shopify after check. This will open the order directly in Shopify in a new tab after completing the order check
  • If using another app to produce the shipping label, you can enter a URL to open after the order check in Custom URLs

Notes

  • Keep in mind that the order must not be fulfilled before printing picking lists/packing slips and checking orders in iPacky. In that case it will not print anything, or giving a message that there are no open fulfillments on the order
  • When producing the shipping label in Shopify after checking the order in iPacky, you might be able to have iPacky fulfill/partially fulfill the order in Shopify. Read about fulfillment rules here. This might work for some, but not other clients
  • If you don’t want to print the packing slip until the order has been checked in iPacky, you can use the automatic print of packing slip after the order has been checked. Read more here.
