FAQ

It's time to stop worrying about packing errors and the loss of the clients. Start packing like a pro

  • iPacky support all barcode scanners that send data as keystrokes and are sending a return at the end. This means at least 99% of all barcode scanners. Just test it in any app that accepts keyboard input, like a browser or Notepad in Windows. If it works there, it will also work in iPacky. This mode is usually the default mode of the barcode scanner, and it might be called something like HID mode, or keyboard emulation mode. If you have a barcode scanner working like this and can be connected to a mobile device, you can also use that one. It does not however support Shopify’s POS barcode scanner, since that one is specialized to work with Shopify POS. Read more here about a barcode scanner we recommend

  • The barcode scanner must be set up to emulate keystrokes with a return at the end. This is the default setting for barcode scanners. You can test this in a program that accepts keyboard input. For example Word or a Web page. After a scan of a barcode, it should show the contents of the barcode, and a return (line feed) at the end. There is no setup of the barcode scanner in iPacky, you can look up the manual for your barcode scanner.
  • No. It’s very simple to use and no configuration is required. There are settings that you can change if you want, but it’s not mandatory.
  • Yes. Since iPacky is a web-based app it will work on all devices with a browser. It’s been tested on Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android.
  • iPacky does not support this. It’s basically a gimmick because the accuracy is not good, and it’s very unproductive when scanning many items.
  • We will not be responsible for any issues with barcode scanners, but we have good experience with this one: Netum NT-1228BL This is just an example with one supplier. We don’t have any connections or relations with this shop. It works with PC/Mac/Android/IOS. Can be used with USB cable, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. We can also recommend scanners from Socket Mobile. They are using iPacky themselves to fulfill their orders. If you want an all in one device, have a look at these Munbyn mobile phones with scanner
  • When the barcode scanner produces a different character instead of for example # it most likely has to do with the barcode scanner setup. Usually the barcode scanner can be programmed with the keyboard layout you are using. So if you’re using an international keyboard, but the barcode scanner is set up with English keyboard it might lead to this problem. Look in the barcode scanner manual to set up keyboard. Test this in any program that accepts keyboard input and see what the scanner produces when you scan something.
